A beautiful hotel. Had a wonderful stay. Not really car friendly though as it's in a pedestrian zone

The big smiles on the staff early in the morning the lovely smell of fresh hot espresso and that awesome food at Dickens bar at very affordable prices and last but not least the rooms are perfect with that sense of ancient and modern at the same time all that will make even a simple business trip nice and lovely just like your holiday !!! Ouh and it smells good and it's very clean I've stayed there like 8-10 days or so and every day when we get back to the room everything is perfect and it is done as if no one entered it magical some how .....:):):) You are awesome guys my first choice of hotel when I need to stay in Reading in the future business or holiday trip !!! All the best for everyone thanks for the wonderful time guys !

Pleasant courtyard, reasonable food, pretty standard range of beer, good coffee. I would really say 3.5 stars

I have eaten and had drinks here never stayed. But old Georgian or later old coach stop when horse drawn was the power then. Lovely dinner here and ale is good. Outside courtyard at the rear cobbled stoned. Historical place. Very near all Reading has to offer. Oracle just next door. Town centre just a stroll away.

Not a good hotel for business travelers : If anything it is a hotel with its own English personality. Visited here during hot weather and the room temperature was very hot. Luckily I had a very loud fan in my face instead. However: hot weather is not the hotels fault. Still: when I woke up I was told breakfast was not until 7 which to me is far to late when on business travel. Still, I figured I'd grab a sandwich with me before work. When I returned to the cafeteria they had not managed to register that I paid for the breakfast, wh b it was sorted out (I had in fact paid 12.50) I had no time to eat breakfast. Arrived at work hungry and tired. Would not recommend this hotel. Choose a more comfortable one.
