Nice hotel near the Reading railroad station. The rooms are quite large compared to many other hotels. The breakfast was good.
Malmaison Reading have the least capable and rudest staff of any hotel Ive stayed in.Time and again Ive put it down to the odd bad day but it actually seems inherent.As somebody that regularly books for multiple occupancy Ill be striking Mal from our providers lists.
Nice room and location. I didn't put 5 stars due to fact the continental breakfast is very very poor. Outside the Industrial croissants, fruits and orange juice... not too much choice... Pity.
I've only been a customer at a Christmas Party (3 times now I think) so can't comment on the hotel however.. I thought the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. Between us we probably had pretty much everything on the menu and all agreed with that.The staff were great, Brew Dog on tap in the bar, good buzz both in there and the restaurant. We had a great evening!
I think this place rides on its name and reputation but falls very short of expectations. We had lunch on Monday, pre-booked. On ordering it was disappointing that 3 out of 4 fish dishes were off the menu, and another couple of dishes were unavailable. It took 40 mins for the starters to arrive, and mains were served one hour after that. One person's main was 'forgotten'. The restaurant was very quiet so no excuses of being busy. Yes, the food was delicious and well presented, but service was so slow and so many dishes were missing from the menu that I could not recommend the restaurant. They are also serving a set Christmas menu but not a hint of Christmas decoration in the restaurant. I wouldn't bother. Extremely disappointing.
