I really enjoyed my visit. Staff friendly and happy and I found the club to be clean and well presented. Very impressed.
Excellent facilities, clean and well maintained. Friendly and well experienced staff! Definitely a 5* facility. Cant wait for English summer to come so I can enjoy the outside pool! :D
I was at this gym for a year. It's a nice place and the staff are friendly, especially the PT's who are easy to talk to. The price however is extremely poor for what you get in my opinion. I initially paid 100 so that I could have a 3 month contract, but soon changed to the 85 monthly contract for the better price, but this had me be on a 1 year contract. You can use the pool, sauna and gym. I however never used the pool or sauna - due to the location it's quite difficult to get to/from during certain times of the day so I'd take off as soon as possible after using the gym. I wouldn't actively travel there just for those services otherwise. The gym was good and at certain times would be reasonably free; this was my reason for using this "premium" gym as I was irritated with low cost gyms being ludicrously overpopulated. I think most people using this gym or at least a majority population are on company discounted memberships, so don't be fooled into thinking because the club is actively used that others are happy with the pricing of membership. I'd use the gym again if it were 30-50 a month due to the good maintenance of equipment, but as it's 85 minimum, there are definitely better gyms with far greater value for money.
I had my lock in the changing room cut off (& replaced with new lock) by the sport manager around 8 AM on 26/10/2018, without any notification. I was shocked and panic (as my iPhone & car key were inside) when I returned to the locker, and couldn't open the locker.The manager later said there was another member thought incorrectly he was using that locker, so he cut the lock, and realised it was not for him, so he replaced new lock, without leaving any note.and even worse there was no apologies at all from the manager.Dose he have the right to cut off the lock like this?he doesn't care what the member's feeling, privacy etc., and he is lack of experience for customer care.In general, the David Lloyd in Reading is small, ordinary, and poor management and service makes it worse.
The club equipment is great but I would not recommend becoming a member at all. I signed up with a friend and we were given the wrong information and pricing so when she moved overseas, the half I was paying went up considerably. I have been trying to rectify this issue and cancel my membership (because of the unexpected price increase and mistake made on their behalf) for the last 4 weeks. I have got 2 replies to my maybe 6 emails which were pretty unhelpful. I have had one phone call a few weeks ago but since leaving a message with the membership team to call me back- I have heard nothing. My friend had similar issues with another David Loyd club. A lot of hassle and disgustingly poor customer service. I would save your money and invest in another club/gym.
