Great food and always a good vibe when the youngsters are on duty.... Nice to be helped by people who like and appreciate having work. The food is fresh and diverse. They keep it simple and cost effective by having limited 'on the day' choices on the chalkboard.... Don't ask for a menu..... And the selection of cakes on display is wicked.
Simply the best healthy, quick lunch and take away lunch place in Reading. Choice of 2 salad bowls - always tasty,also soup. Better still their cakes are wonderful with plum and marzipan my favourite. Quick, friendly service, good coffee, outside seating in the sun. Another great independent cafe in central Reading. Healthy food freshly made to eat in or take away. Vegan options available, ask at the bar. Small space but very cozy. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. Free water jug available. Selling cakes and other drinks too.
I had never noticed that this place existed for some reason until I was in town recently and in urgent need of coffee. I got a double espresso to take away and some mince pie brownie, so I can't really comment on the interior. However, the espresso and brownie were absolutely amazing and the staff were really friendly, so definitely top marks from me.
I have lived in Reading town centre for a year and have never really noticed Picnic, tucked away on Market Place. However, I'm so glad my friend introduced me to it! Very cosy, welcoming staff and delicious cake. Plenty of vegan options available and the girl who served us was so kind and helpful. Will definitely be coming back. A little pricey perhaps, but I feel it is justified!
