Stratfield Mortimer, Reading RG7 3NY, UK
Reading, South East England RG7 3NY

This is a train station suitable and built for able-bodied persons. If you are disabled or wheelchaired bound avoid this train station like the plague. There is no lift system here or anything that can assist the disabled to cross over to the other platform. This station is also manned on a part-time basis. There is no ticket machine on either sides of both platforms. There is a ticket conductor on the trains who will be able to assist you with ticket issues. I noticed that there are CCTV installed cameras and emergency/assist machine to enable comunication between yourself and train staff elsewhere. I found this station to be primative in design and lacking the most basic of facilities to aid the modern day traveller.

Mortimer Station Info: November 2018So, not sure I've ever got on / off here before...!! Takes about 25min to walk to Mortimer...But very useful for collection from M4 Junction 11, which is only 6min drive away, rather than the delights of collection from Reading Station.Small country station, with limited facilities, Parking is OK on tarmac: Costs 3.40 before 10am & 2.10 after. Though no spaces on this November Thursday at 9:30am...!! (Though fee parking on verge just North of station)Ticket office and toilets should be open according to sign between 06:30 to 13:00 Mon to Fri, but not on this Thursday...No inside waiting room, but limited shelter from November windy/rain...

Nice little station

I prefer Reeves personally.

Turned up on a hot weekday summer afternoon, and found it deserted and locked up. Apparently it's not manned in the afternoons any more. So, asked the train guard for a ticket and found that they are not sold on the trains either. So had a free train trip to Reading West -which has no barriers. To be fair to the train company -the station is nowhere near the village, which has a good bus service to Reading. Surprised this station survived Beeching.
