Getting through on the phone is a joke... Why?
I'm only going to say this once, if you ever get arrested for an offence and brought here ALWAYS ask for a solicitor (which is free in police custody!), it's called legal aid, the police during interview will deliberately ask you misleading questions and everything is recorded. Shut up like I did as advised and unless they have enough to charge you with (like you actually ADMITTING to something) other you'll be charged with a criminal offence, official caution at the least and a criminal record. IF they don't have enough to charge you like they didn't me you'll be "released under investigation" but all I'm going to advise is GET THE DUTY SOLICITOR, they are impartial unlike the police whose only interest is to get you charged with an offence and convicted but the once whom I actually got was from a charity who actually has your interests at heart. It wasn't a very nice experience, I must stress police are not bad in fact I respect them a lot as they have a job to do and its as noble a profession as any but once the bracelets of doom come out i.e. handcuffs on you its a different side of the playing field.When you are in custody youll be taken to a police station and the process begins, youll be checked in like a hotel, hand in all over your belongings, depending on the circumstances you may even be searched intimately and then your there for up to 24 hours whilst they gather further information to use at your formal interview.You can be held for a further 12 hours if they feel there is need to such as pursuing other lines of inquiry, believe me all the police Ive ever spoke with have told me they dont do the job just for the money, they do it because it provides job satisfaction, and its a big thing which also drives them.If you asked for a solicitor like I did than he or she will have briefed you what happens during the interview as you get some alone time to discuss your case, circumstance may be different but they have you in their interests and they are familiar with policies and procedures, treat them good.My advice at the interview is ask for a cup of tea which they will generally happily provide but remember at this point they are not your friends, they are trained professionals and will be closely examining your eye contact, response to questions, personality, reactions, body movements etc. The questions begin quite simple but they then get more provocative and personal, they are intending to wind you up and prod you into an admission of guilt where mostly likely if you do that youll give them what they need on a plate to secure a conviction, remember what youre saying at a recorded interview can be used against you, its in your own interests not to incriminate yourself and take it very seriously.It doesnt have to be an admission of an offence, anything you disclose at that official interview can give other lines of enquiry for them to go through.I'm just giving my piece... SOLICITOR! SOLICITOR! SOLICITOR!
Could not have had a worse experience - in brief summary;A property developer next to my house removed a 12m section of my hedge which was just over 2 metres high, set fire to it and then used my land to provide access to work on their developmentI phoned the Police, the builder admitted to removing and destroying the Police, TVP would not even speak to the builder because the builder claimed it was an accidentAbout 1.5 years later and a lot of letters and 2 complaints later and I've managed to get TVP to interview the builder who claims that it was an accident. He removed it with a digger and burnt it. TVP refuse to take any action against him. There was so much incompetence throughout, but I've tried to summarise this to keep it as brief as possible.
My experience of this establishment is very different from others, my room must of been a lower grade room. The ensuite facilities were not up to scratch, Some thief had not only stolen the loo roll, but the toilet seat along with it, these hadnt been replaced prior to my arrival. I was exercising & someone kept interrupting, asking if I needed anything, I kept declining their room service, ensuite was bad enough, so heaven knows what the food would be like. After speaking to the gentleman in charge, I decided to vacate the premises, they decided it best not to charge me.
Stayed here for a single night.They offer a free collection service from your home address, driver was most excellent in helping me open the door and even put my seat belt on and off for me.the interior was a bit outdated, but the staff on the reception was most helpful, security was on high alert as i was searched and they looked after my valuables for save keeping. The rooms could have done with a but more colour, the bed and pillow was quite firm, but adequate and it suited me. Extra blankets are on hand!Suits a low budget, toilets a bit basic, shared showers and all inclusive food and drink service better then some hotels and residential properties in the Reading area.
